More particularly, fiction is an innovative kind of story, among the four fundamental rhetorical styles. Although the term fiction is based on the Latin fingo, fingere, finxi, fictum, “to make, produce”, functions of fiction do not need to be wholly fictional and may contain actual people, places, and occasions. Fiction might be either written or verbal. Fiction is mainly seen as a kind of entertainment or art although perhaps not all fiction is necessarily artistic. The ability to produce fiction and other artistic functions is regarded as a fundamental facet of human lifestyle, among the defining features of mankind.
Literature is the art of functions that are created. Both most fundamental written literary types include fiction and nonfiction, even though “literature” in popular usage also can mean a sub-style of fiction called literary fiction.
